Rest N Go / Independent IT Studio

Engineered systems
for teams that
treat software as
core infrastructure.

02 — Introduction

We build software the way a good publication is edited: with a specific reader in mind, a clear thesis, and every paragraph paying its own weight.

Rest N Go operates as an engineering counterpart to product, operations, and infrastructure teams. We take on programmes where the underlying system, and not only the interface, needs to be right.

Our work spans the full lifecycle of a digital system, from the first architectural sketch through the years of quiet operation that follow. We measure success in how easily a client's team can carry the system forward once we step back.

03 — Core services

Six practice areas.

01

Custom software

Long-lived internal platforms, domain systems, and back-office tools engineered around the way your organisation actually operates.

02

Web applications

Performant, accessible product surfaces built on modern frameworks with strong typing, observability, and predictable release pipelines.

03

Mobile applications

Native-quality iOS and Android experiences delivered through a single codebase without compromising on interaction depth.

04

Cloud platforms

Reference architectures on AWS, GCP, and Azure with infrastructure-as-code, cost governance, and workload right-sizing.

05

Data & analytics

Warehouses, event pipelines, and decision layers that turn transactional systems into reliable sources of business intelligence.

06

Cybersecurity

Defensive posture reviews, identity hardening, secrets management, and incident preparedness aligned to your threat model.

04 — Industries served

We work across regulated and high-throughput sectors.

Different industries impose different constraints on how software can be designed. We tune the engineering approach to the operational and regulatory context of the work.

  • Financial services/01
  • Logistics & mobility/02
  • Healthcare technology/03
  • Retail & e-commerce/04
  • Media & publishing/05
  • Public sector & civic tech/06
  • Industrial & manufacturing/07
  • SaaS & platform businesses/08

05 — Technology expertise

A deliberately narrow stack.

We invest deeply in a small number of ecosystems so that our delivery speed comes from familiarity rather than improvisation.

Languages

  • TypeScript
  • Python
  • Go
  • Rust
  • Kotlin
  • Swift

Frameworks

  • React
  • Next.js
  • Node
  • FastAPI
  • Django
  • SwiftUI

Cloud

  • AWS
  • GCP
  • Azure
  • Cloudflare
  • Terraform
  • Kubernetes

Data

  • PostgreSQL
  • ClickHouse
  • Snowflake
  • dbt
  • Kafka
  • Airflow

06 — Engineering practice

The system is the deliverable, not the demo.

Code reviews, automated tests, deployment pipelines, and runtime telemetry are baseline expectations of the work, not premium additions. Every service we ship is instrumented so its behaviour in production can be understood by the team that owns it.

07 — Work process

A five-phase rhythm.

  1. Phase 1

    Discover

We map the business context, constraints, and existing systems before proposing an approach.

  2. Phase 2

    Architect

A working technical plan that names trade-offs, chosen tools, and how the system will evolve.

  3. Phase 3

    Build

Short iteration cycles, continuous integration, and demoable increments from week one.

  4. Phase 4

    Harden

Load testing, observability, threat modelling, and documentation delivered alongside code.

  5. Phase 5

    Operate

Ongoing support, roadmap partnership, and knowledge transfer to internal engineering teams.

08 — Business benefits

What clients tend to notice.

Lower system risk
Explicit architecture decisions, tested infrastructure, and reproducible environments reduce the surface area of unknowns.
Faster delivery cadence
Automation, disciplined scoping, and small units of work compress the distance between idea and production.
Long-term maintainability
Code and documentation written so that another team can inherit the system without a rewrite.
Aligned engineering economics
Right-sized infrastructure and pragmatic technology choices keep total cost of ownership predictable.

09 — Selected solution types

Patterns we deliver often.

Platform

Internal developer platforms

Golden paths, service templates, and self-serve environments for growing engineering organisations.

Product

Customer-facing SaaS products

Multi-tenant applications with metered usage, billing, permissions, and audit trails built in.

Integration

System integration layers

Event-driven middleware that connects ERPs, CRMs, and legacy systems without brittle point-to-point wiring.

Analytics

Operational analytics

Warehouses, semantic layers, and dashboards that answer questions rather than generate more of them.

10 — Security & reliability

Security as an engineering property.

  • Identity & access. Least-privilege permissions, short-lived credentials, and audit trails wired into every service by default.
  • Data protection. Encryption in transit and at rest, secrets managed through dedicated services, and clear boundaries between environments.
  • Operational resilience. Backups, restore drills, and runbooks kept current so incidents are exercised rather than improvised.
  • Continuous review. Dependency scanning, threat modelling, and periodic architecture reviews as part of the standard workflow.

11 — Why Rest N Go

We are not a large agency. We are a small group of engineers who prefer to be responsible for what we build, work with a handful of clients at a time, and stay in the room long after launch.

12 — Company values

V01

Honest scope

We prefer a smaller system that works to a larger one that promises.

V02

Written thinking

Every significant decision leaves a durable artifact behind it.

V03

Boring where it counts

Novelty at the product layer, proven tooling at the infrastructure layer.

V04

Craft over volume

We take on fewer engagements so each receives senior attention.

14 — Frequently asked

Questions we hear often.

How does an engagement with Rest N Go typically start?

Most engagements begin with a short discovery period where we review the current system, meet the people involved, and produce a written recommendation before any long-term commitment is made.

Do you work with in-house engineering teams?

Yes. A large share of our work is embedded alongside internal engineering, focused on accelerating specific initiatives, unblocking architecture decisions, or filling specialist gaps.

Which technologies do you standardise on?

We select tools per engagement based on the problem, but we invest deeply in the TypeScript, Python, Go, and modern cloud ecosystems so we can move quickly without improvising.

How do you handle security and compliance?

Security is treated as an architectural concern from day one. We help clients build against recognised control frameworks and align to their internal risk requirements.

Can you take ownership of an existing codebase?

Yes. We regularly inherit systems that have grown organically and produce a stabilisation plan before making structural changes.

Every enquiry is read by an engineer. Include a short description of the system or programme you are considering and any timing constraints; we respond with either a working session or a candid note if it is outside our scope.
